ADAPTIVE INSTRUMENTS CORP./ACCUTECH LAUNCHES 3rd GENERATION WiSTAR-R INDUSTRIAL WIRELESS PLATFORM AND MULTI-VARIABLE FIELD INSTRUMENTS

Hudson, MA – September 2007 – Adaptive Instruments Corp./Accutech, the market leader for design and manufacture of tether-free Wireless Smart Process Instrumentation systems, announces the launch of its 3rd generation, deterministic, WiSTAR-R Industrial Wireless platform establishing new industry performance benchmarks in low application cost, RF bandwidth use optimization, installation simplicity and extended operational battery life. Continuing Adpative’s strategy of maintaining backward/forward compatibility, the 3rd generation WiSTAR-R platform is based on use of Adaptive’s Standard Element Technology (SET) sensor communication and management modules which provide logical sensor data pre-processing prior to encoding and RF transmission. Using this approach, it is now possible to have one WiSTAR-R wireless node monitor, process and transmit multiple sensor signals using one node channel. Incorporating the SET embedded logical processing capability, set point control functions can also be performed. The product family is extremely versatile, allowing for many combinations of pressure, temperature, level and flow measurement as well as having the capability of powering on/off control outputs. Intelligent Multi-Variable Wireless Nodes are available in intrinsically safe and explosion proof designs. Ordinary location ratings are also available with NEMA 4X environmental qualification.

Continuing the recognized micro-power performance capabilities of Adaptive’s first two generations of Industrial Wireless platforms, the 3rd generation platform offers an embedded 20 year battery power source. The product employs advanced battery technology combined with effective power management that delivers a completely self contained capability for continuous measurement, high duty cycle radio communications to a Base Radio gateway as well fast response on/off control output.

The first Multi-Variable Instrument entry to the Accutech Wireless Instrumentation family of products will be introduced at ISA Expo in Houston Texas October 2-4, 2007. Full commercial release of the product is planned to take place in early 2008. Additionally, in concert with various Adaptive OEM alliance partners, the company has completed design and pre-production testing of several configurations and is now moving into field tests.
